In the season of reunification 1979-80, Australia flogged England but the Poms refused to play for the Ashes. In the Perth match, three unusual things happened: one controversial, one twice as unlucky as normal and one a harmonic dismissal which commentators might wait a career for, yet miss. Name all three things.

Lillee batted with an aluminium bat; Boycott and Hughes both scored 99; Lillee c Willey, b Dilley.

Deb Batley got two out of three but no cigar and I'm not printing her answer.

the dismissal is that 'Lillee - caught Willey, bowled Dilley' one that never fails to get mentioned during ashes on the cricket show

The unlucky moment(s)- that Geoffrey Boycott and Kim Hughes both ended up on 99(though atleast Boycott didn't get dismissed)

Didn't Lillee use an aluminium bat, or at least try to? thats my pick for controversy

Rod was so close also.

Oh and look two more totally believe posts (not) that have the strange resonance of someone having another go so sorry, the point is still available rather than being absorbed by a doubtful submission.

So Jack gets the point because he had all the elements together in his ONE answer - the controversy was DK Lillee using an aluminium bat he was marketing at the time; TWICE as unlucky was Boycott and Hughes both scoring 99; and the harmonic dismissal was Lillee, c Willey, b Dilley.
